The OnePlus 7 Pro has taken the smartphone market by storm and most of it has been because of the amazing speed of the phone thanks to the beefed up hardware, the truly stunning 90 Hz display and the cool pop-up front facing camera. While all these features have been greatly appreciated, it is some of the software that they have introduced that is truly taking the tech world by storm!
Oneplus Screen Recorder
The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with an integrated screen recorder, doing away with the need to download an additional app to record your screen. As it is integrated, it comes without all the bloatware that you expect to find with any 3rd party application. This has been a much in demand feature and OnePlus have finally introduced it in their latest handset.
Oneplus Zen Mode
Along with this, they have introduced a new mode called Zen Mode which is a great mindfulness feature. Zen Mode locks you out of your phone for 20 minutes in which you receive no notifications from any of your applications. The only functionality that remains available is the camera, emergency calls and incoming calls. This is a great way to help you focus on the important things in life and keep you off your phone for 20 minutes. Once you start Zen Mode, you cannot exit it until the 20 minutes are over. If you use your phone for 2 hours continuously, you can even enable it to give you a notification suggesting you start Zen Mode!
Should you sideload zen mode?
These features are truly amazing and it came as no surprise that users of older OnePlus handsets were eager to try them on their own phones. The large influx of users extracting the apk files and facing issues with the modes on the older phones grew to the extent that OnePlus issued an official statement wherein they have announced that both these features will soon be available on the OnePlus 5, 5T, 6, and 6T! Here is the official statement.
We have received some feedback from users who have installed the Screen Recorder and Zen Mode on the OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T. The results turn out to be that when you are using Screen Recorder, there is no sound coming out when you play the game and listen to the music, or that there will still be notification reminders when you are in Zen Mode.
After checking with the team, the reasons are that current Screen Recorder and Zen Mode are only compatible with the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro and are not fully integrated with previous models. If you install these apps on other phone models, you may face some issues while using it. We recommend that you do not install and use the 2 applications until we fit them to the OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T.
We plan to release Screen Recorder and Zen Mode in next week’s open beta build for OnePlus 6/6T. And the software team is also working on the adaptation of these two applications on the OnePlus 5/5T and the stable build.
OnePlus 3/3T to get Android Pie
With the OnePlus 3/3T receiving the Android Pie update in the next few weeks, it is still unclear whether they will be getting the native screen recorder and Zen Mode, but things do look promising!
